I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours turned out to be very nice. I was having a hard time getting in to the Christmas spirit. Probably because we did not buy our children very many presents this year. It just didn't seem like Christmas was right around the corner. AND THEN, Christmas eve happened. We went to my Mother in laws house. We had such an awesome get together. We had fun playing games, eating, exchanging gifts, and just hanging out. The kids got some nice things and we all had fun exchanging the presents. There was wrapping paper everywhere. Then, it felt like Christmas.
Christmas morning, the children slept in until about 9am. I was ok with that because, like I said, they didn't have many presents to open and if they woke up at 5am, we would have been done at 5:02 and would have been bored all those many hours before we head to see family.
Anyway, My son got the laptop that he wanted. He wanted his very own so he could put things like Minecraft and Roblox on it. We used to share a laptop and now the laptop I have runs so terribly because of all the stuff he put on for his games. SO, he is happy to have his own and I am happy I don't have to share any longer! :) He also got a subscription to Pleygo. It is like a netflix for Lego's. We will see how it goes. He was excited about that.
My daughter did not want anything for Christmas other than money. That is what she got from us. We did get her a few small things. We enrolled her in a Candy of the month club. She also got a promise ring that she has been wanting. She told me and all of the family members a few months ago that she only wanted money. She wanted to help out some local homeless shelters and food banks. So her plan was to get the money and then go shopping for things that the shelter and food bank needed. She mostly got her wish. Every one gave her some money but they did also buy her some presents. She was excited to receive all the money. We went out yesterday and bought the things for the shelter. We then dropped all of the goodies off. It was so nice to see her do this. I could tell that she was so happy to be able to help others. We still have to get a hold of the food bank so we can set up a day to drop things off so we haven't gone shopping for them yet.
I am so thankful for my children. I am so thankful that are each unique in their own ways. I was so blessed by what my daughter did this year. It made me step back a bit and think about all the ways that I could help out and made me realize all the ways that I tend to be selfish. It was a blessing to come to that realization.
I will post pictures in my next post. Have a very Happy New Year!!!
